The quality of teacher training is a predictor of the quality of education delivered in educational settings. However, unlike the training provided to primary and secondary school teachers, fewer established guidelines govern the training of early childhood and pre-primary education teachers. As part of a curriculum reform support project in Haiti, an evaluation tool was developed to assess the quality of training modules developed for educators and teachers working in preschool centers. This tool was structured around five evaluation criteria: (a) internal and external coherence, (b) alignment with international trends in early childhood and pre-primary education, (c) relevance and organization of targeted training content, (d) relevance of training modalities, and (e) overall quality. Each criterion was operationalized using observable and independent indicators. Evaluation grids were then developed to assess the quality of training modules, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses. This tool can be used in other contexts to evaluate pre-primary teacher training, with the aim of providing young children with the best educational quality.
